I am reading the book Bonhoeffer; Pastor, Martyr, Prophet, Spy by Eric Metaxas. Click on the photo to see it on Amazon. Kathy bought it for me for my birthday. She is sweet. It seems at this point to be thorough, and I am sure it will take a while to get through it's 542 pages. It makes me think, already, while only 42 pages in, of those who have gone before us. How do we prepare for the days ahead?
Obedience
What is it that God has been leading you to that you have been avoiding?
We know that obedience to God always looks like a cost to us before we move into it. This should not alarm us, and we don't need to be surprised about it. It will always be this way, at least in this age….. After we enter into the obedience that God is directing us into, and we are established in it, then we can see that it really wasn't cost, when compared to what God has added to us. We should also realize that the higher the level of obedience, the greater the cost can appear, and the longer it may take to see the fruit.
I want to ask you to do something now. Ask God what He wants you to do. He will tell you, though the larger direction may take more seeking. A casual approach to life is costly. We must seek the Lord and His will intently. But God wants you to know His will, and if you approach it seriously, He will communicate His will to you. The scriptures are clear about this fact. TIME of TRIBULATION

The world is deathly ill. It is dying. The Great Physician has already signed the death certificate. Yet there is still a great work for Christians to do. They are to be streams of living water, channels of mercy to those who are still in the world. It is possible for them to do this because they are overcomers.
Christians are ambassadors for Christ. They are representatives from Heaven to this dying world. And because of our presence here, things will change.
My sister, Betsy, and I were in the Nazi concentration camp at Ravensbruck because we committed the crime of loving Jews. Seven hundred of us from Holland, France, Russia, Poland and Belgium were herded into a room built for two hundred. resisting the tide
Have you noticed how the spirit of the age seeks to invade our hearts, our lives?
I have heard this in the past, and I am beginning to see it, that the real fight in this realm is between Satan and God's people. All the rest of the self important activity is flowing into the Abyss. And the tide of evil rises.
The whole world lies in the power of the evil one – all those who are not in Christ. At the same time, many who are in Christ are giving the evil one advantage. We must be careful not to do this. Give us wisdom to avoid this trap Lord. Continue reading “resisting the tide”
