Getting To Know You

Even if you take the toll highway from Monterrey to Mexico City, which is well-tended, less crowded, and a generally smoother experience, you will still have the chance to pass herds of goats wandering in the slow lane and vehicles in weirdly legal states of decomposition.  To mention this fact isn’t to suggest that Mexico is a primitive or what you’d call a “developing” country, just that the levels of permission here are on an order different than what you are used to in your home country, if your home country is the United States.  If you have need to move your flock of goats along a high-speed roadway, go to it; if you want to assemble the undercarriage and engine of your vehicle in one place and the body and interior in another hundreds of miles away, feel free to improvise a wooden driver’s seat and take off, friend.  We will just keep moving alongside. Among Giants

A few weeks ago I saw Tony Hedrick, a friend of mine who does missions in Europe, and he invited me to meet a special friend of his who would be traveling thru the area.  When I looked at the dates, I realized I would be out of town when the normal meeting came, so I let Tony know that, and asked him if there would be another way to do it.  We talked about it, and he said that maybe I could just go to the airport with him to pick up Alessandro.  Since we had worked it out, I filed it on the calendar and looked forward to meeting the guy who's life had gripped Tony so deeply with his love for the Lord and heart for people.  The below is the next thing I heard about Alessandro.  When Tony sent it, I responded that I was really looking forward to meeting him, and I was a little sad that our meeting would be delayed…. Moving The Target

In 2005 I made my second trip to Mexico City, where I was helping to conduct a conference in a small church in the north part of the city.  It was really good to be back, as I had been deeply impacted by the Lord's heart on my first trip.  The team was different, and me and the Nicaraguan pastor who had led the previous trip were the only repeats from the previous team earlier that year.

One of the daily routines was to travel from our hotel, which was in the city proper, out to the north part near the border of Mexico City and the state of Mexico.  In this daily movement we were seeing all kinds of sites and people, impressions that were still fairly new to me, and my senses were heightened on this basis.

I was traveling with a friend from Texas named Keith, and he and I had a running conversation that we seemed to take up on the drive, as it took about an hour to cover a fairly short distance, based purely on the fact that tons of other people were on the move too.  We got into some interesting territory conversationally, and it was a surreal time, I think for both of us. The Spirit and Order of the Age

The spirit and order of the age is contrary to and seeks to resist the Lord and his motives.

We are beginning to realize there is an order to the Kingdom of God, tho few know much about it.

We should also realize that there is an order that the spirit of the age seeks to impose upon us.  This same order is what is referred to in the scripture when it declares that this “whole world” lies under the power of the evil one.  This world – this eon or age – is under the control of darkness.
