From Mexico – First Few Days Nov2010

We pushed Mario's Combi (VW BUS Circa \'78) to get it started, but it was good after that! This photo is from our first few minutes of the trip.

We have been on the ground in Mexico for about 48 hours, most of our time spent in DF (the Capitol District of Mexico City). Right now we are in Cuernavaca, one of my favorite cities in Mexico. I like it here for a lot of reasons, but primarily for the friends I have here. The emerging generation has so much promise, and so much potential. It is also a target, and a very strategic one, of the enemy. I can remember my own awkwardness, my own lack of focus, and my own absent-mindedness enough to know that I want to encourage the emerging generation in every way I can. Trip Summary – Nicaragua FXMissions Trip Aug2010 / Part One

Jeff, Alex and I

When we set out, a little over a year ago, to begin a small-team, short-term missions sending group, there were a lot of things that we felt were central and would be needed to make a good start.Ā  Group training events facilitating team unity, team members from different areas, physical readiness, and a good destination for our first trip.Ā  As Yuri and I sat down to discuss the state of things toward the end of our time in Nicaragua, we realized that what we had felt was needed to prepare a team for our first trip had all been assembled and put in place, but not by means we envisioned from our original plans.Ā  The LORD had done it his own way, and brought it all together by His grace.Ā  This feels good, and right. Back to Masatepe from Terrabona

We returned last night to Masatepe from a great time in Terrabona, a remote town in the mountains. The people and the place were beautiful.

The pastor said shortly after our arrival that we would remember them because o the food. He knew what he was talking about. We were fed like the children of the King!Ā  Notice the plates are clean….

We encountered God's grace and the readiness of hearts. Very powerful first night. God was teaching and touching. Continue reading “Nicaragua August 2010”

Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya

kibera

We were here over the last few weeks, and in Kawangware slum also, as we went house to house praying for people and families. God loves…. and sometimes He helps us, even in our general coldness of heart, feel His love for others.

For this I am thankful. We saw some good things happen, we saw some unsettling conditions, and we saw many of the objects of God's affections, dressed up in poverty.

Help us Lord! We want to see what You see, feel what You feel, and do what You do with the things You see and feel.
