¿Qué es el liderazgo?

IMG_2102La palabra liderazgo puede ser difícil de definir, pero comprensible cuando lo ves. Esto significa que la esencia del liderazgo no sólo se conoce por su definición, sino también a través de verlo en acción. Después de todo, el Reino de Dios no es solo palabras sino es poder junto con acción.

Antes de continuar, piensa en alguien que sea un gran líder. ¿Quién, además de Jesús, es tu líder favorito de todos los tiempos? ¿Puedes nombrar a alguien? Volveremos a esto, pero quiero animarte a pensar en el nombre de un líder.

As I ponder on how to express my experience of my recent trip to the South of Mexico, I can’t  even imagine how to say with just a few lines how blessed I felt, nor how much the Lord spoke to me and encouraged me with a new perspective, as I took this journey with Him.

To start with, I was surprised to receive the invitation to participate on this trip. In my heart the flood of emotions of excitement along with that soft all-knowing voice of my heavenly Father speaking to me confirmed that I was supposed to go on this trip. As I started to make preparations to go, immediately I started to face some difficulties, struggles and it felt like every evil thing was coming against me.

What is a short term mission trip about, anyway?

Is it about unusual food and eating routines, trying to get comfortable in a bed that's not your own, and endless hours on the road?  No. That's not what it's about…. These things are, however, the cost of entry.

I think our perception of the purpose of mission trips change, as we change, and as we have more experiences with them.  I know this is the case in my life.  I often say my first ten short term trips were mainly for my benefit, and it wasn't until after the first ten that I began to have something to offer those I was going to see.  While there is nothing magic about the number ten, the idea is that your capacity for contribution grows through experience.  Some, without this understand, give up before they have developed a contribution beyond themselves.  This is sad, and sadly, it's unnecessary.
