Becoming Fruitful

I want to say right away that there is a danger that comes with learning, because it brings a gratification of it's own. This can be deceitful, because we know that we aren't supposed to be hearers only, but also doers. The gratification that comes with learning can come before we do anything. If we take learning or understanding as an end in themselves, we will not follow on to do what the understanding was given to us for. We have to realize this or the understanding that we accumulate will only further bind us in a place of self-deceived disobedience. We must act on our understanding to fulfill the purpose for which it was given to us…. With that said: Continue reading “Becoming Fruitful”

Moving The Target

In 2005 I made my second trip to Mexico City, where I was helping to conduct a conference in a small church in the north part of the city.  It was really good to be back, as I had been deeply impacted by the Lord's heart on my first trip.  The team was different, and me and the Nicaraguan pastor who had led the previous trip were the only repeats from the previous team earlier that year.

One of the daily routines was to travel from our hotel, which was in the city proper, out to the north part near the border of Mexico City and the state of Mexico.  In this daily movement we were seeing all kinds of sites and people, impressions that were still fairly new to me, and my senses were heightened on this basis.

I was traveling with a friend from Texas named Keith, and he and I had a running conversation that we seemed to take up on the drive, as it took about an hour to cover a fairly short distance, based purely on the fact that tons of other people were on the move too.  We got into some interesting territory conversationally, and it was a surreal time, I think for both of us. The Spirit and Order of the Age

The spirit and order of the age is contrary to and seeks to resist the Lord and his motives.

We are beginning to realize there is an order to the Kingdom of God, tho few know much about it.

We should also realize that there is an order that the spirit of the age seeks to impose upon us.  This same order is what is referred to in the scripture when it declares that this “whole world” lies under the power of the evil one.  This world – this eon or age – is under the control of darkness. What does Jesus want?

What does Jesus want?  A lot of what we think about hovers around this question.  For believers, this question is central, sometimes said in delight, sometimes spoken in exasperation.  Sometimes we don't know what He wants when we want to.

Our approach to this subject will guide our lives.  We may get closer, become indifferent, fall away, and sometimes even fight against what He wants.  I know I have done all these things at different times, and at times, more than one simultaneously!  I continue to appreciate God's patience and love,  which make He and I compatible.
