1Mexico2014 Trip Report – Puebla

Upon arrival at Esperanza Viva in Puebla, we settled into what would be  our home for the next five days, happy to get a longer than normal pause in road life.  Nineteen eager students awaited us, and the class to come the next morning, no doubt having heard of what to expect from our team… We have had the privilege of being here for most of the generations of La Viña in the last ten years, the school of ministry that is an significant part of Living Hope International's efforts to prepare the emerging generation for life and ministry in Mexico and beyond.  Over the next two days, training in personal words came in the form of practicals, both in the demonstration and the testing.  A young family was visiting, about to leave to return to the States, having much of their heart inseparably connected.  We turned the full encouragement power of the class in their direction.   Tears were abundant all around, as was love, which never fails. 1Mexico2014 Trip Report – Oaxaca

Arriving in DF, Mexico City we met Job (yes, like the biblical character) Rojas in the airport and commenced to making a long day and night of getting to our initial destination, thanks to a little game of surprise from the rent car company.  WOW.  With the help of our hosts in Oaxaca who had a couple of suggestions, we were one subway ride, two bus rides, and a car ride away, arriving in Oaxaca City 13 hours after landing in DF.  But hey, we made it to Raco's house. 1Mexico2014 Returns Home

EsTiempo2014Wanted to drop a quick update from the recent time in Mexico, and express thanks for the prayer support!  All team members made it safely back to their homes, and had a meaningful experience in my estimation.  I left Mexico on Cinco de Mayo – May 5th – which is interesting.

We were safe, (mostly) healthy, and productive while we were on the ground.  There were two teams, one for the first half and one for the second half, and I stayed a few extra days afterward for the conference Es Tiempo (It's Time) in Puebla with long time friends Jerry and Susy McNally and Living Hope International. A Dangerous Assumption…

He made all the right decisions. He dated slowly, chose wisely, did everything I asked of him in pre-marital counseling, and despite all his wise choices, his wife left him just months into the marriage.

Shared, with permission, from the personal blog of Kevin A. Thompson, husband, father, and pastor.

She made all the right decisions. Three job offers were on the table. Her knowledge and ability was recognized by everyone. She prayed, sought wise counsel, and made the best decision she knew to make. Within the year the company failed and she was without a job.

There is a common assumption regarding God’s will. It’s the belief that success is the ultimate sign of choosing correctly. It’s the belief that if you make a decision which honors God, God will honor you with success. It’s a dangerous assumption.
