November 6 – Nicaragua

Prayers requested and appreciated as three of us are headed to Managua, Nicaragua tomorrow for the 3rd installment of the Youth Event we helped start a few years back.  This time we have opened the event up to youth in a broader way, as the last two times was focused on youth pastors/leaders only.

Last time we were there, the participants decided that what was necessary was a clearer sense of identity, hence the name Identity2012.  Here is a shot of the last gathering:

Please agree with us in prayer that the Lord will reveal himself as the source of true identity.

Please ask for the right words to be spoken, at the right time, and that revelation would go forth from the Lord, helping to establish this emerging generation in the faith.

Thanks for your help, and blessings to you!

We will be posting updates during the trip here.

Exemplary

We can recognize a quality example when we see one, can't we?  I remember as a child realizing, through my mother's verbal instruction, that I could be a good example, or I could be used as an example of what happens to someone who doesn't!  Either way, I was going to be an example.I guess this is the way it works.  Either way your life is going to be an example…. an example of how to live, or an example of what happens to fools.  Does that sound like strong language to you?  Good thing I am not trying to get paid for this little editorial.  🙂

Bottom line is the same, you will be responsible for your way of life and the impact it has on others.  With this in mind, I have a few questions and observations I want to encourage you to consider: Continue reading “Exemplary”

Borderlands

there is a placebeyond the border

where love grows

and where peace

is not the frozen silence . . .

to get to that place you have to go or be pushed outbeyond the borders,

to where it is lonely, fearful,

threatening, unknown.

only after you have wandered

for a long time in the dark

do you begin to bump into others

also branded, exiled,

border crossers,

and find you walk on

common ground.

it is not an easy place to be,

this place beyond the borders.

but it is a good place to be.
